At 12 midnight earlier, Blizzard Entertainment announced the newest expansion to World of Warcraft, Dragonflight. Also, Wrath of the Lich King Classic! After a rough year for Blizzard Entertainment, alot of players including myself are having mixed feelings about WoW’s next expansion. Shadowlands started off so well. Started. By the tail end of the expansion, the guild, together with many others in the WoW universe has moved on to other games. Can Blizzard redeem themselves with Dragonflight and WotLK Classic? I sure hope so.
In Dragonflight, players will return to Azeroth where they will explore 4 new zones that make up the mysterious Dragon Isles. Players will be able to play as the Drachthyr Evoker, the new playable race and class in the expansion. The pairing of the Drachthyr and Evoker is fixed; you can’t have one without the other. While we’re on the topic of dragons, let’s talk dragon riding.
Dragon Riding is a new movement system that allows for greater freedom and control in the way you control your flying dragon mount. From what we’ve seen in the reveal, players can dive and dart across the skies on these beasts, adding a much needed layer to flying mounts in the game. As a fan of aerial combat games, I can’t wait to see what’s in store. A very similar dragon aerial combat game was released just a few months earlier; I quite enjoyed it and if Dragonflight allows for combat like these (which is highly unlikely but let me dream la hor), it’ll be interesting indeed.
The developers stated also that with the game’s long history, certain fundamental systems will have to change and evolve. Aspects of the game like UI, Talent Trees and Professions will be reworked to keep up with the modern player base and also the MMO landscape of today.
No date has been set yet so I guess we’ll have to wait for a release date down the line.
Wrath of The Lich King Classic
Arguably one of, if not the best expansion in World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King is coming to classic. Players will get to experience Northrend in its icy glory as level 80 players form raid groups to defeat one of the most iconic bosses in the World of Warcraft universe, Arthas Menethil the Lich King. Wrath of the Lich King or Wrath or WoTLK was the expansion I played the most passionately in and the expansion holds my fondest memories in my years of playing the game (or any game for that matter). It’s also nice that the developers are making some QoL changes that were not present in the expansion’s original release all those years ago. I get scared when developers… touch expansions like these. Don’t touch what isn’t broken. But we’ll see.
Exciting times, exciting times indeed. Check out the videos for more details from Blizzard Entertainment!
Enjoys the art of drifting, stealth-based and racing games; the latter 2 he’s not very good at. His laughter puts hyenas to shame.
