If you missed the 40-minute long showcase and reveal, here’s the rundown of everything announced during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct:
Fire Emblem Engage
The newest entry in the Fire Emblem series, called Fire Emblem Engage, was announced for the Nintendo Switch! A special Divine Edition for the game was also revealed.
The game is set to release on 20 January 2023.
It Takes Two
The critically-acclaimed multiplayer co-op platformer, It Takes Two, makes its way to the Nintendo Switch on 4 November 2022! More chaos on the go!
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
KOEI Tecmo announced that Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam sometime in early 2023.
The game first debuted for Wii exclusively in Japan on 31 July 2008! Oh how time flies.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass Vol. 2
The contents of the second wave for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass has been announced. Players can now play as Ino, a mechanical hero, by completing her quest. New outfits and challenge battles are also coming to the second wave, which releases on 13 October 2022.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake
THQ Nordics’ SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake heads to Nintendo Switch next year!
Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star
Fist of the North Star is now being adapted into a…. boxing exercise game? Yes. It is what it sounds like. The game comes to Switch in March 2023!
Oddballers
Throw balls in my friends’ faces? Sign me up!
Published by Ubisoft and developed by Game Swing, dodgeball multiplayer party game OddBallers will soon be making its way to Switch in March 2023.
Tunic
What does the fox say? Tunic is a beautiful isometric action game about a small fox on a big adventure. The game hits Switch on 27 September, and you can pre-order it today on the eShop.
Front Mission Remakes
2classic mech-based strategy games, Front Mission 1st and Front Mission 2, will receive remakes on the Nintendo Switch. The first game releases in November 2022, with the second game releasing next year. Front Mission 3 Remake will also come to Switch in the future.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will make its way to Nintendo Switch soon. The game lets you grow crops, raise livestock, and fall in love. How wholesome!
Players can start their journey on a new farm starting Q2 2023.
Splatoon 3 — Splatfest
“What would you bring to a deserted island?”
Splatoon 3 is getting its first post-launch Splatfest. The three teams are Gear, Grub, and Fun, so pick your team and prepare to splat your opponents from 23 – 25 September!
Octopath Traveler 2
Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler 2 was announced, featuring 8 all-new characters in the Hunter, Dancer, Hunter, Apothecary, Scholar, Merchant, and Thief classes. The game comes to Switch on 24 February.
Fae Farm
A magical farm awaits!
Fae Farm is a new life sim from Phoenix Labs. Create a farm, befriend townsfolk, and battle enemies in action-RPG combat.
Players can team up with up to 3 other players locally or online to build their farm and live the best fae life. Seasons will change and unlock new features.
Fae Farm is exclusively for Switch, and it’s launching in Q1 2023.
Theatrythm: Final Bar Line
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is a new rhythm-action Final Fantasy game!
With hundreds of songs to choose from, fans like myself can play rhythm games and enjoy the amazing tracks that Square Enix games have to offer. The game releases on 16 February 2023. Fans can pre-order the game starting today.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope comes to the Nintendo Switch on 20 October. We also get to pre-order the Gold Edition to have access to the base game, weapon skins and season pass.
Rune Factory 3 Special
Battle monsters, care for monsters…and transform into a monster?!
Rune Factory 3 Special is coming to Nintendo Switch next year.
A new Rune Factory game is also currently in development. No further details are released yet.
New Nintendo 64 games coming to Nintendo Switch Online
More new games are headed to the Nintendo 64 section of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
The following games were announced:
- Pilotwings 64
- Mario Party
- Mario Party 2
- Mario Party 3
- Pokémon Stadium
- Pokémon Stadium 2
- 1080° Snowboarding
- Excitebike 64
- Goldeneye 007
Pilotwings and the first two Mario Party titles are slated for a 2022 release, with the rest releasing next year. Goldeneye 007 is also “coming soon”, with online play. No release date was announced though.
Various Daylife
In this new unique and immersive JRPG by Square Enix, players can complete over 100 daily tasks to develop their relationship with the townsfolk. Growing your character unlocks different job classes, adding variety to your life. Players can purchase this title later today.
Factorio
Originally released in 2016, classic factory sim, Factorio is coming to the Switch on 28 October 2022.
Ib
In this 2D exploration game, a young girl named Ib visits a museum with her parents, only to uncover some disturbing artwork that sucks her in.
Ib’s quite a mystery. This game comes to the Nintendo Switch in Q1 2023.
Mario Strikers: Battle League
In this second free update for Mario Strikers: Battle League, players can try out some new characters with all-new Hyper Strikes. Pauline and Diddy Kong join the game roster with brand-new play styles, as well as new gear and a new stadium. The update releases later this month.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is an RPG in the Atelier Ryza series. There’s a huge world to explore, and you can do everything from soaring through the skies to leaping up waterfalls.
The game comes to Switch on 24 February 2023.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — Booster Course Pass
“Available this holiday”, new courses are headed to Wave 3 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass, including Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS. If you’ve got an Expansion Pack Switch Online membership, it’s already yours at no extra cost.
Nintendo Switch Sports
The next free update for Nintendo Switch Sports will be pushed back to “this holiday” and includes a new sport, Golf, which can be played both locally and online with friends and family.
Pikmin 4
Shigeru Miyamoto announced that the next mainline game in the franchise, Pikmin 4, is still in development and slated for launch on Nintendo Switch in 2023. In this game, players can play from the Pikmin’s perspective, making everyday items seem especially large. We don’t have much info yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
Just Dance 2023 Edition
Previously announced at the Ubisoft Forward showcase, Just Dance 2023 Edition offers a plethora of new songs to dance your heart out to. The game releases on 22 November 2022.
Harvestella
More footage was featured for Square Enix’s farming RPG Harvestella. (Another farming sim?!)
A free demo is also available now on the Nintendo eShop, with save data carrying over to the full game when it’s launched. The game will be coming to Switch on 4 November 2022.
Bayonetta 3
We knew Bayonetta 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch on 28 October 2022. Right after the showcase, Nintendo released a new 7-minute gameplay video for us to feast our eyes on. Veli naise. Check it out above!
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code
From the creators of Danganronpa, this game follows Yuma, an amnesiac detective looking to solve a thrilling mystery while being accompanied by a demon. The game releases in Q1 2023.
Resident Evil Village – Cloud Versions
Resident Evil Village is coming to Switch in the form of a cloud edition, so now you can take on tall ass Lady Dimitrescu and her allies on Nintendo’s handheld. The cloud version of this game comes out on 28 October, and there’s a free demo to check out right now as well.
The Winters’ Expansion DLC is also coming to the cloud version on 2 December, adding new story elements and more. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, 2 Remake, and 3 Remake are all also coming to Switch before the end of 2022
Sifu
Sifu is a fighting game where players age each time they fail, making them more experienced in combat. The game heads to Nintendo Switch on 8 November 2022.
Crisis Core — Final Fantasy VII Reunion
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion shows the events leading up to Final Fantasy VII, in an epic adventure featuring Cloud and Sephiroth. This remake launches on Nintendo Switch on 13 December 2022!
Radiant Silvergun
This classic shoot-em-up was announced for Nintendo Switch, available starting today.
Endless Dungeon
Endless Dungeon is a roguelike robot dungeon-crawler coming to Switch next year. It’s set in the same universe as Endless Legend, and it tasks you with exploring a series of dungeons, battling waves of enemies, and unlocking new gear and weapons to take on your foes.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered
Nintendo is remastering Tales of Symphonia for Switch with enhanced graphics and improved gameplay. It will launch sometime in early 2023.
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe
In celebration of the pink puffball’s 30th anniversary, yet another new Kirby game was announced. Originally released for the Wii in 2011, this game supports up to 4 players using various Copy Abilities to defeat baddies. New and returning minigames are also included, making this a well-rounded Kirby experience. The game heads to Nintendo Switch on 24 February 2023, with pre-orders starting today.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
And now we have come to this point. The highly anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild finally has a name — The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Join Link as he traverses both the land of Hyrule and the sky above it, in an epic adventure coming to the Nintendo Switch on 12 May 2023.
